seattle
Seattle is the largest city in Washington State, as well as one of the major seaports on the west coast. Once best known for the Space Needle, the Emerald City has in recent years become as renown for its contributions to technology, culture — and let's not forget coffee — as it once was for its notoriously rainy climate.
Seattle is the home to both Microsoft and Starbucks, as well as companies as diverse as Nintendo and Amazon.com.
Seattle has also become known for its music. Jimi Hendrix was born in Seattle, and Nirvana's Kurt Cobain first made his name there.. But if anyone thinks Seattle's music scene is limited to the grunge sound of the nineties, think again. Seattle has also given the world everyone from Kenny G to Sir Mix-A-Lot to the Fleet Foxes and Death Cab for Cutie.
As a hub for technology, Seattle is also a dominating presence within the blogosphere. In addition to music, you'll find Seattle bloggers dishing about their favorite sports teams like the Seahawks and the Mariners, as well as everything from it's thriving arts scene to its great seafood.
