sewing
Sewing is simply the fastening of any flexible material using a needle and thread. It is a process used in homes and businesses worldwide, assisting in the making of such things as clothing, curtains, and upholstery.
It also is standard practice, worldwide, in fixing rips and tears in the clothing of growing children.
What once began as a simple needle and thread has been taken over by a wide variety of machines varying from a basic stitcher to a machine that will do complicated sewing and dressmaking crafts and even embroidery and patterning of all sorts.
People have come to use these machines to craft entire wardrobes, and clothing for all occasions including weddings.
You'll find bloggers talking about sewing at sites like The Craft Gossip Sewing Blog and The Stitch DC Blog.

In the Middle of the Making
My So Called Life (and other lies) —

Starting, planning, hoping and envisaging are all part of the process of making. Sometimes I think its the best part; once the item is made there can be disappointment, or an anti-climax, or even a sense of what now. But before the nadir of the making process is reached, the envisaging stage happily keeps my brain ...21 hours ago -

I still had a few quilt blocks to use up and by ...1 day ago -

I know “sew do it” is a cheesy title, but I like it and it embodies my relationship with my sewing machine. I learned to sew at a very young age on a very old Singer. We had an affair, this lovely machine and I, one summer sewing what my mom called “hippie tops” and [...]2 days ago -

I haven’t learned how to sew. When choosing electives in junior high school, I stayed far, far away from textiles and continued to avoid anything to do with sewing well into art school.
