shania twain

Canadian singer/songwriter shania twain had some success in the country music genre in the early 1990s.  Legendary rock producer Robert "Mutt" Lange heard her original songs and was so impressed he asked not just to produce for her, but that they co-write songs together.  They met in June of 1993 and married that December.  Twain and Lange partnered up musically and the result, The Woman In Me, did well for the pair.  The next release Come On Over made Shania a household name with country and pop fans. 

Since 1993 shania has won over one hundred and eighty seven awards and accolades throughout the world.  They range from sales awards and Grammys to fan- and peer-generated appreciations.  

In May of 2008 shania twain and her husband Mutt separated.  The officially unanswered question of "Did he, didn't he"? of this situation has generated a lot of bad press for Lange.  However, at Shania's appearance at the 42nd Annual Country Music Awards Show November 19, 2008 to present the Entertainer Of The Year Award, her grace underfire had Nashville giving her a standing ovation.
