silk flowers
Silk flowers are artificial flowers that are made to mimic real flowers. The major difference is that there is no need for water, sunlight or fertilizer.
The quality of silk flowers, the striking resemblance to the real thing, and the lack of maintenance required, has boosted the silk flower industry into a multi-billion dollar business.
Polyester is the material most artificial flowers are made of because it lends itself well to artificial flower design and because of the low cost. Other materials used include plastic, sateen, cotton, latex, paper, parchment, rubber, rayon and of course silk.
