Sink.

It just looks like a strange word, doesn't it? The longer you stare at it, the stranger it looks. And as far as meanings and connotations, well, the list just goes on and on. For example, you may want to sink a sink into your kitchen counter. Or, perhaps you would like to sink your teeth into a good book about the sinking of the Titanic or how you can sink more three-pointers in basketball. In fact, you might be getting a sinking feeling just reading this paragraph!

When a 98-year-old woman was asked what the greatest convenience in the world was, she replied – without hesitation – "The sink." The reporter, obviously put off by her glib answer, pressed her further. "What about electricity? The clothes dryer? The microwave?" The woman was insistent. "Sinks revolutionized the home. With them, you no longer had to bring water in from the well to wash dishes, take baths, or cook. It is the greatest convenience in the entire world."

And we could add one more use to that list: Many a drunkard has used the sink as a toilet after a long night at the tavern.
