Skin tags come in all shapes and sizes. Some are flesh colored or darker; some are flat; while others hang off the skin by a stalk known as a peduncle. They can be wrinkled or smooth, small as a pinpoint or big as a grape. As well as weight gain, hormone levels may well be a factor as many pregnant women report their presence.

Genetics also plays a part. You do not need to have skin tags removed for your health sake, but you may wish to improve your appearance or to avoid the irritation of skin tags constantly catching on your clothing.

Skin tags are a common skin abnormality. Many will notice as they age or put on weight that skin tags form along the neckline, under the arms, beneath the breasts, on the eyelids or in the genital area. With their own blood supply, skin tags may become inflamed, sore and even bleed if they are rubbed hard or shaved in error.
