    30 percent of iPhone 3G customers switched from other carriers

    Not surprisingly, a study by NPD Group found that 30 percent of customers who purchased the iPhone 3G handset between June and August switched over from a different mobile carrier. Of those that switched, 47 percent came from Verizon Wireless, 24 percent from T-Mobile, and 19 percent from Sprint.

    While this iPhone security hole isn't nearly as gaping as the last one we covered (which was fixed by Apple), it too exploits the emergency call feature in password-protected mode. In password-protected mode, there's an option to disable SMS preview, so if someone picks up your locked phone, they can't see incoming text messages.
