Severus Snape is the Potions Master at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He is also arguably the most popular character from the Harry Potter series to be discussed among bloggers.

Whenever the topic of Snape is brought up among bloggers there is sure to be a variety of views. Some bloggers believe Snape is simply misunderstood. These Snape supporters know that Snape can be cruel, even viciously so at times, but they never waver in their support of him.

On the other side, there are the bloggers who claim to see Snape for who he really is: a lonely, cruel man who enjoys making other people hurt more than he does. They realize Snape may have had a miserable childhood, but they do not think this excuses him for his outright nastiness to students, and mostly directed towards Harry Potter. These bloggers do not understand why Dumbledore trusts him, or why Dumbledore tolerates Snape's cruelty towards Hogwarts students.

Regardless of what you think about Snape, there is no doubt that Severus Snape is a complicated character. The debate about Snape's personality, motives, and loyalties will continue, even though the final book in the series has long since been published.
