social network

A social network is a group of people that have something in common. It could be an individual neighborhood or other subsection of a city that have geography in common, but social networks more commonly refer to groups that form online.

Social network websites are either targeted to a specific hobby or interest or are more general in nature allowing several small groupings to occur internally. Examples of popular social network web sites include MySpace and Facebook.

Another social networking concept online is that of creating a social network of social networks, like is the case with the concept behind Ning.com.

Blogs like Aris Yulianta discuss topics such as: demographic differences on social networks and social media accountability for user content.
