Nothing inspires more awe and wonder than an in-depth study of the solar system. Dinosaurs are a close second, but the solar system always seems to win out when it comes to sheer majesty and splendor.

The solar system is more awesome than your Forrest Gump impersonation. It's even more awesome than your mom's homemade biscuits. It's more awesome than when you put a "For Sale" sign up in your neighbor's yard while they were away on vacation and they kept getting calls from potential buyers all week while they were in Cancun.

Our solar system is made up of the sun and eight planets. In case you didn't know, Pluto was recently demoted from true "planet" status to a "dwarf planet." Being considered a real planet was Pluto's last scrap of dignity, so go easy on the little guy.

The sun is the center of the solar system and is responsible for keeping all the planets rotating in motion as well as providing the "juice" for the solar power system in your backyard and the photosynthesis taking place in your garden.
