    The Future of Spam Karma

    http://watershedstudio.com/ blog/ 2008/ 07/ the-future-of-spam-karma/

For those of you who haven’t heard yet, development of the WordPress Spam Karma plugin has officially been discontinued and the current code has been released GPL Version 2.  While this isn’t a plugin we use ourselves, we do see it running on probably around 10% (+/-) of our clients’ blogs, thus the announcement has caught our attention.

    Typepad AntiSpam

I have switched Spam Karma off… temporarily, to test Typepad's new Antispam plugin As is well known I am not a huge fan of collective intelligence as the sole arbiter of whether a comment is "spam or ham", and long term I am most likely to switch back to Spam Karma, possibly using Typepad Antispam as an additional filter.

    Internet karma

    http://annakjarzab.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 22/ internet-karma/

I keep getting emails about The Weepies. The Weepies are in Sex and the City, playing their [truly lovely] song “All This Beauty”! (Which, like, yeah–The Weepies are going to get people to go see Sex and the City. I’m so sure. If anything, being in Sex will boost Weepies ticket sales.

    Comment Spam Or Not?

    http://www.affordable-internet-marketing.com/ 2008/ 05/ comment-spam-or-not/

Comment Spam Or Not? I just read Comment Spam Warning Signs from Andy Beard. Deciding which comments are spam, irrelevant, for link juice only or positive and constructive is one of the most difficult tasks I have to do while running this blog.

How to Install Bad Behavior on WordPress

    http://www.intelliot.com/ blog/ archives/ 2008/ 03/ 28/ how-to-install-bad-behav…

I’m still getting spam comments and trackbacks on this blog, despite using both Akismet and Spam Karma 2. So today I installed Bad Behavior. It’s a standard WordPress plugin, and should work automatically. Simply upload the Bad-Behavior directory (with the bad-behavior folder inside), activate it on the Plugins page, and you’re good to go.

10 Plugins To Combat Comment Spam

    http://weblogtoolscollection.com/ archives/ 2008/ 03/ 26/ 10-plugins-to-combat-c…

When I recently wrote a post which pointed to an article that described a few things you should do with your WordPress blog immediately after having it installed, I noticed Collin made a comment in that, WordPress was like the Windows OS where as, it comes bundled with Internet Explorer for a browser while WordPress comes bundled with (albeit fantastic) Akismet for a comment spam blocker.

    Buh-bye Akismet… Again

    http://sageblogger.com/ akismet/

photo credit: permanently scatterbrainedSince moving to a new domain, I have become more and more frustrated with spam monkeys. So much so that I almost followed Scot’s lead in switching to “nofollow” again. My frustration though was misplaced. There is no question that blogs from No-Nofollow Community are on many “must spam” list.
