Tom Spina of Tom Spina Designs has recently completed the restoration of the original werewolf from “American Werewolf in London“, a piece for which Rick Baker received his first Academy Award.  He did an amazing job, as it was in pretty terrible shape.  This piece is in the collection of Bob Burns.

I feel bad bringing sad news to movie fans, but Academy Award winning special effects and makeup artist Stan Winston died last night. He is best known for his work in the Terminator series where he designed the original Terminator Endoskeleton; Winston has also worked on Aliens, Jurassic Park and Predator, among other big-name franchises.

Stan Winston, an Oscar-winning visual effects artist, has died at age 62. He was best known for Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and the groundbreaking Jurassic Park movies.
