    Words of Wisdom for Today

We’re in a new era where people want less of your carefully scripted evangelism sales presentation and more personal demonstration of your genuineness, your authenticity. They want to see evidence that what you believe has legs - that it does something.

    Blogging and spiritual disciplines

    http://paulinege.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ blogging-and-spiritual-disciplines…

Surfing the web this morning, I came across a blog called The Spyglass, where Rob asks “In what ways can you use blogging as a spiritual discipline?” As I was already thinking about blogging and at least one particular spiritual discipline (which is how The Spyglass popped up in my search results), I decided it was a good question to spend some time thinking about.

    Vital Faith Chapter 2

    http://www.matthewmthomas.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ vital-faith-chapter-2/

Late last week, I completed the second chapter of my discipleship curriculum draft and passed it on to the curious onlookers.  Chapters 1 and 2 are intended to be preparation for baptism in our congregation - an outline of the basics of Christian faith and the lifestyle of a disciple.  Today, I began

    What is discipleship?

    http://organicfaith.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ what-is-discipleship/

I have been thinking a lot lately about the above question. Is discipleship more than than just a Bible study or truth search? What are the essential ingredients? How long does it last? Are there season of discipleship? How can we do discipleship in our modern culture of self reliance and self-focused desires?

    Tuesday Evening…

    http://jeremiahandrews.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ tuesday-evening/

“It Takes many bags of Salt to make a friend…” I don’t know why I chose this image to go with this post, but I guess we will see when I get to the bottom. It has been a challenging day, to say the least. Thanks to the Government they screwed up my financial aide file for the next year and they denied my claim for financial aide.

    Rat Feel Peer Pressure Too

    http://loydf.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ rat-feel-peer-pressure-too/

This news article at the website of New Scientist magazine, Rats feel peer pressure too, tells us: It’s not just humans who succumb to peer pressure - rats do too. Brown rats have a tendency to disregard personal experiences and copy the behaviour of their peers.

Just who do we think they are?

    http://ladyofvirtue.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ just-who-do-we-think-they-are.html

Just who do we think they are? Notice, I did not say, "Just who do they think that they are?" I purposely replaced the "they" with "we" to make a point. You see, we often give people too much power in our lives. We think too much about what people might think, or how we would be treated differently if we would follow God with our whole hearts.

    Wise Words for Today

    http://lifebrook.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 12/ wise-words-for-today-21/

Is it possible to be a faithful disciple and not be a diligent student? No. Contemplative prayer, social activism, fellowship, and enthusiastic worship all have their place; but if Paul declares that transformation includes the renewalof our minds, I don’t believe it is possible for us to be serious disciples of Christ if we do not also beocme serious students of his truth.
