st patricks day
St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday celebrated around the world with drinking, partying and great parades in honor of the catholic Saint Patrick of Ireland. One city (Chicago) even dyes its river green in honor of its history and Irish heritage.
The Days events all center around the parade to celebrate the Irish. Most parade location and venues happen in urban areas and cities and can be found on sites like Visit USA. Parade goers often dress up in green for these parades in anything from Funny St. Patrick’s Day t-shirts to green beads and silly hats. People do this because the tradition is to pinch those that are not dressed festively for the occasion. Along with the parades it is tradition to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with lots of corn beef and cabbage (expertly cooked by people like Our Home Works), friends, Irish whiskey, green beer, and of course Guinness the native beer of Ireland. All in all, St. Patrick’s Day is a great time to gather with people young and old and celebrate being Irish whether you’re actually Irish or not.
