steampunk
Steampunk is a literary genre which explores science fiction themes from the perspective of the Victorian era and based on technology extrapolated from the science and engineering capabilities of the 18th and 19th centuries. It has its earliest roots in the speculative writing of Mary Shelley, H. G. Wells, Jules Verne and Arthur Conan Doyle. It emerged as a distinct modern literary movement in the 1980s with the work of writers like James P. Blaylock, Greg Keyes and Neal Stephenson. It has influenced a number of movies, produced magazines, conventions, roleplaying games, comic books and graphic novels and even spawned a significant fashion and design movement.
For a good article with an overview of the movement see The World of Steampunk. A good source for Steampunk fashion info is Outsapop Trashion. There are some amazing examples of steampunk design projects at Steampunk Workshop.

I love the steampunk look, and shoes are just getting tougher and tougher by the day. catena wall clock tells time with bike chain

Here’s an unusual concept for a wall clock. Instead of telling the time with hands or a digital display, the Catena clock tells time along the perimeter of a bicycle chain. Designed by Andreas Dober for Germany’s Anthologie Quartett , the Cantena (Latin for “chain”) has a certain retro-steampunk look ...2 days ago -
