The Wangcaster: a guitar with balls
Guitar Licks and Tips —
Authority: 114
This custom made guitar, the Wangcaster, is certainly something that I would never want to play … at least in public! The guitar, according to it’s maker, started off as a Cort Stratocaster. He bought it on-line and started to take it apart just for the fun of it. These things are quite cheap you know. The guy ...15 hours ago -

Update. I needed a few weeks to cool off. Took Turkeycaster to Guitar Center. Guitar tech there got the "Ravi" out of the D string. Asked him to file all the nut slots as low as theyd go...which he did NOT do (for $30). So the B and G strings are still way sharp when fretted at fret #1. Replaced the P.O.S. ...1 day ago -

6 screw american vintage bridge v. 2 point american bridge

It might be hard to compare them at the guitar shop since theyre rarely set up perfectly out of the box, but a good mom and pop shop that bothers with such things might be a good start. At any rate, I prefer the smoother action of the two-point trem because it takes less force to move the whammy bar. Kind of depends ...1 day ago -

...but why I paid even that for it Ill never know... I got this cheep butterscotch/blackguard "Premier" strat knock off so I could test a stereo switching scheme I cam up with. After taking the thing home, I first tested out how she sounded stock. Here, I noticed one of the vintage tele style string retainers was ...1 day ago -
Two Strats better than One?
Telecaster Guitar Forum —

From a players perspective, Id much rather have one guitar that Ive bonded with than have two, three, or thirty guitars that I havent. From a collectors perspective, I wouldnt accept the deal as the Squires are not as desirable as the Fender. Ask yourself if youd be happy with that deal six months from now... Id ...2 days ago -

I may get flamed for this but I also dig Hillel Slovaks tones on early RHCPeppers releases. I think Frusciante is over rated.2 days ago -

Mad Catz Rock Band Fender Stratocaster
Gear Patrol | The Definitive Men's Resource —

Rock Band and it’s younger sibling Guitar Hero are sort of a big deal if you hadn’t heard already. The Mad Catz Fender Stratocaster is the ultimate Rock Band contro’ler. Based on a legit Fender Strat body, it’s gotten the Dr. Frankenstein treatment, being reborn as the clear superior to any plastic ...4 days ago -

Whats your whammy? 3? or 5 springs?
Telecaster Guitar Forum —

I use .11s on my two Strats that are tuned to e-flat and .10s on the rest of my Strats that are standard tuned. All bridges float. I have used three, four and five spring setups on my Strats regardless of string guage. After experimenting for years I found that three springs is perfect. Five is WAY too stiff for me. ...1 week ago -
