    light boxes

    http://yaniblog.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ light-boxes.html

Something from last week's little wander... they recently put up a "Light Box Art Gallery" in Blyth Street... based, I'm pretty sure, on a concept from Melbourne... and the first art they've put in the boxes is the Metro Dodo Series by James Cochran. My knee is better than I would have expected...

New Anatomical Street Art by Ryan Gerdes

    http://streetanatomy.com/ blog/ 2008/ 05/ 17/ new-anatomical-street-art-by-ryan-…

Ryan Gerdes is an aspiring graphic designers studying at Linfield College in Oregon. He tells me that most of his work has some sort of human anatomy incorporated into it. He recently began experimenting with graffiti and sent me these two pictures of his latest work.

    Guerilla Art

    http://artandmylife.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 17/ guerilla-art/

I have been thinking of writing a post about the gentrification of Street Art for the forthcoming Youthweek and Hoodie Day - their slogan ”It’s what’s under the hood that counts” makes a lot of sense to me.

Do you know Mizzo, a female street artist from switzerland? Now you know! Mizzo, whose real name is Myriam Gaemperli, is a Switzerland based artist who grew up in Jonschwill, SG. After her studies in different art disciplines (art school, graphic design, for example) in Switzerland and London, she became what she always wanted to be, a skateboard artist.

    Banksy exhibition a success

    http://www.photogold.co.uk/ banksy-exhibition-a-success/ 17/ 05/ 2008/

London’s top attractions were outperformed by a distinctly down-at-heel venue. A temporary exhibition in an unlovely London tunnel described by one art critic, Shirley Dent, as “Piss Alley”. During the Bank Holiday weekend, 9,500 people a day descended on Leake Street, near Waterloo Station, to see the Cans Festival, the subculture blockbuster of graffiti art organised by Banksy.

Graffiti art to boost your inspiration [PICS]

    http://nerdd.net/ 2008/ 05/ 17/ graffiti-art-to-boost-your-inspiration-pics/

A great collection with awesome graffiti art. By looking at them and studying the details, you could boost your (Photoshop) design inspiration. If you're not in to design, just sit back and enjoy this amazing form of art. Every once in awhile, you'll hear a statistic so striking you can hardly believe it's true.

    Tagging & Teenagers

    http://melbourneartcritic.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 17/ tagging-teenagers/

Happy has been happily tagging, recently I have been seeing them everywhere. Ha Ha’s huge tags are still visible, years later, along the Upfield line, as is Dulux. These are not just some kids but some of Melbourne’s most artistic street artists.
