student
A student is a person who learns, and is most commonly used to describe a pupil within a school environment. The actual meaning of the term comes from the Latin verb ‘studere’ which means ‘to direct one’s zeal at’. Students can be seen studying in almost any genre, although medical, legal and other trades are the most popular.
Although traditionally students are of the age of 7-18 years old, a recent trend has seen people from older generations going back to school to learn, usually in colleges or universities. These people have been given the tag of "mature student." Even though the word student has strong foundations within the academic world, the term student can apply to any person who is in the process of learning something, whether this is in a school environment or just in everyday life.
Since education is very popular, so are blogs about students and schooling. International Student offers a basic blog with no frills that offers current news in the world of students and education.
