The tankini is a swimsuit designed for women that combines the desirable two piece swimming outfit with the cover up of a one piece.

A bikini bottom, matched with a corresponding tank top allows a little mid drift to show if desired.

The style was first introduced in the 1990's, but really didn't take off until 2008. It is often the preferred style of swimsuit for women who are looking for the convenience of a bikini but the comfort of a one piece.
