Tax forms are filled out when doing a tax return, and then filed with the Internal Revenue Service (or other agency depending on country...Canada Revenue Agency in Canada for example), for the purpose of calculating income tax or other taxes.

In the past, and to a lesser extent now, people would fill tax forms using a pencil. These days, more often than not, tax or accounting software applications are used to fill tax forms electronically or digitally. Tax returns are now often filed electronically as well.

Popular tax and accounting software titles include: Quicken, QuickTax, TurboTax and GenuTax to name but a few.
