tax returns

Tax returns are documents (electronic or paper) that contain data to calculate income tax.

In the United States, tax returns are filed with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), while Canadian federal tax returns are filed with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Tax returns aren't filed pencil-to-paper as much today as they once were, often individuals and tax professionals use tax software to assist in income tax calculation.

Often, the tax software can either submit the tax returns electronically or put them into a format that is accepted by the proper governing body.
