technorati authority
May 4, 2007 was a fateful day in Technorati's history. On that day, Technorati.com released an update to their site which listed the Technorati Authority for blogs that are listed in search results and on the blog's individual page.
Technorati Authority was defined on that day in a blog post by Vice President of Engineering Dorion Carroll as "the number of blogs linking to a website in the last six months. The higher the number, the more Technorati Authority the blog has." In conjunction with the newly state authority, a blog would then be ranked amongst all its peers, giving it what was known as its Technorati Rank. Technorati's Top 100 Blogs was born out of this newly defined ranking.
For tools that list Technorati Authority, plus other helpful data, bloggers can visit the Technorati Widgets page to find a host of applications which can be placed on one's site.
