If you are one of those people who tries to set the laser printer to "stun" on occasion, then the concept of telepresence may be a little advanced for you. Make sure you are sitting down while you read this article.

Telepresence
is the latest and greatest in video teleconferencing technology and communication. Not only does telepresence simulate the real-life meeting experience by all those involved, but it captures the body language, non-verbal communication, voice fluctuations, and eye contact of everyone involved. And the participants may be thousands of miles apart!

Telepresence
is used for board meetings, social encounters, job interviews, and just about any other meeting that needs to take place (and without the expense of flying all the participants across the globe so they can physically sit across from each other).

Called "the future of teleconferencing" by some, this new method of meeting has been increasing in popularity since it was first introduced back in 1993 by David Allen and Harold Williams. Bloggers speaking about telepresence can be found at sites like nlrnews and spectrum.ieee.
