teotwawki

Many people speculate that teotwawki (the end of the world as we know it) will come in the year 2012. Much of this speculation can be attributed to the Mayan calendar's ending in that year.

Although teotwawki may come sooner or later, the much ballyhooed Y2K comes close to being as much of a nonevent as there ever was, while some predicted absolute pandemonium. In the time leading up to the Y2K scare some hardcore believers in teotwawki readied themselves by emergency preparedness efforts, beefing up their supplies of guns and ammunition, generators, food storage, and anything and everything they could get their hands on that they thought would be useful for end times.

In the Christian world, there is a widely held belief in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and that all of the earth's evil will be burned prior to His coming. However, Christians claim that nobody can know exactly the day or the hour, not even peeping wizards or Nostradamus.

One thing is for sure: it's never smart to bet on the end of the world. For one thing, it only happens once. And another — who's going to be around to collect from if you're right? Bloggers speaking about teotwawki can be found at sites like teotwawkiblog and survival4chicks.
