Books! May 12, 2008 As much as I love reading, I can’t deny that books are extremely expensive in my cousin. It doesn’t help when english book rental shops are quite rare in my state and it sucks that I do not understand the chinese characters. Thankfully, I think I know where I can buy books with good condition and at a discounted price.

So, I made it here quite safely and uneventful. The weather thankfully cleared up before my flight took off. I had several hours at the airport yesterday and actually cast on my Danish Tie Shawl, but more on that later. Today Julie and I haded off to Cambridge and went to a new favorite tea shop of hers - teazonline.

Yesterday, the kids came home to find Evie in Maggie’s box.  We haven’t purchased Maggie a real home yet as we were waiting to get paid, but where she’s been sleeping in a very large 24′ TV box.  Apparently, while left home alone, Evie and Mags have made friends.  I’m not exactly sure how Evie was able to jump into and out of the large box, being a small dog herself.

Thankfully, the voters of Polk County in Iowa have managed to do better than the legislators in the Iowa General Assembly. While the state is busy raising as many of our taxes as they could get away with, the voters, the people that gave them the power (at least in Polk County) rejected the attempt

Saturday night at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner was such an amazing night and a unique opportunity! Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks to everyone at Bloomberg for inviting Perez, and thanks to D.C. for welcoming us with open arms.
