Ali, of Divine Domesticity awarded me with this awesome book from a giveaway drawing.  I was so excited when it arrived in the mail!  Thanks Ali, Avery Publicity & Penguin group for this awesome book!  I can’t wait to dig in!  I’ll be sharing recipes as I make them!  Stay tuned.

First of all an update is in order. In my last post I talked about the nesting phase of pregnancy that I am now in. I told you about knowing where to draw the line in reference to my cabinets. Well dear readers, I am here to confess that this passed week I crossed that line.

The week's final Cook the Book recipe, adapted from The Sweet Melissa Baking Book, appears today at the insistence of Serious Eats overlord Ed Levine. And though Sweet Melissa Patsisserie is only a few blocks away from my home, I haven't yet tried this Butterscotch Pudding.

Oh, I cannot tell you enough how much I am enjoying “The Sweet Melissa Baking Book”. This time around, I made the Orange Scented Scones. I just adore any baked goodie that I can have at breakfast. In my world, a naked cupcake counts as a muffin.

This week's Cook the Book featured cookbook is The Sweet Melissa Baking Book by Melissa Murphy. Murphy's desserts are well known among New Yorkers, but even if you don't live in the Big Apple, you may have caught her on the Food Network, where she won the "Edible Ornaments" challenge toward the end of last year.

I cannot tell you how many malted milk chocolate cakes I have made in my lifetime. Too many. The problem seems to be that most recipes call for crushed “Whoppers”. Which is okay, but the malted milk flavor seems to get lost during the baking. The recipes then try to redeem themselves by adding more “Whoppers” in the frosting.

I was so excited last week when I received an email from Melissa Murphy’s marketing agent asking me if I’d want to review her book, The Sweet Melissa Baking Book…of course my response was a quick “Yes!” I have been a huge fan of Melissa’s for a while now.
