I see there has been an uprising around here with demands for entries and such. I’m only one person, people! I’m not a machine. If I were a machine, I wouldn’t be sitting here trying to type with my right arm in a sling. Yes, you read that right. The only part of my body that was not injured, is now injured.

Crafting 365/277, Tie dye bag, originally uploaded by homemadeoriginals. I bought this tie dye fabric some time ago and never had a use for it. This is a little drawstring bag I whipped up today that has a soft lavender sweater as the lining. It's very soft, making it a good bag for jewelry or something you don't want to scratch.

SO! The whole party was so much fun. We all had a great time, and I thought I’d share some photos from the day/night. We got to Portland around noon and had lunch at Mother’s Bistro/Bar, then went shopping for the day and had dinner at Rock Bottom Brewery (which had two more bachelorette parties going on!).

I’ll have organically-grown tomatoes!  I only have about fifteen pounds, so get there early if you want some.  I’ve got a basket of red ones and a basket of yellow and orange ones.  Price is two bucks a pound–which, by the way, is the same price as conventionally-grown supermarket tomatoes, last I checked.

What’s the deal with end-of-summer sales in July? As far as I’m concerned, until Labor Day rolls around, summer is still in full swing, which means we still have time to strut our stuff by the sea or by the pool in this season’s hottest bikinis. My latest obsession in swimwear is with So Low’s new Tie Dye Bikini.

So, I’ve picked up a few new tiedye techniques that I’ve been toying around with. The first was soaking the shirts in soda ash and allowing them to dry overnight. More time to process, yes, but definitely changes HOW the dye is taken in by the fabric.

i was really craving acid wash jeans a few months ago. like, really wanting them. i just couldn't find any at my usual thrift shop options and had no time to attempt to transform any of my regular jeans and then! they showed up at urban outfitters and i knew it was over.

i know, it sounds a little frightening.  but the new incarnations of tie dye are so much cooler than the original 80s version i remember concocting in my back yard with a pack of hanes undershirts, some rubber bands and a tub of rit dye.  the colors are much more muted, the pattern is more subtle, and the result is this sort of soft, ethereal quality that’s just perfect for summer.
