To may be one of the shortest tags on the blogosphere but it is very widely used because of the versatility and perhaps because some people just didn’t want to have to write the nearly three times larger variation how to. The word to is pronounced the same as the words too and two but have different definitions while the word too is often confused with to when written.

To make things even more confusing for students learning to spell and even many adults is that each version of the word can be used in a single sentence. This commonly forces people to question their own writing skills while wondering why spellcheckers and grammar checking tools seem to lack the technology to help us get it right.

Multiple pronunciations can clearly been seen in a sentence like this. “I will begin to take two forex trading courses to better understand forex trading signals like my two sisters so I too can work in the financial industry to make more money.”

To and too will probably continue to be confused until humans master telepathic communications and no longer have to read or write. Until then you can take time out of each year to celebrate National Grammar Day or simply drop by The Grammar Gang to sharpen your writing skills and make your teachers proud.
