tofu

Tag details

Tofu is made by coagulating soy milk and pressing it into a bean curd. Tofu was originally developed in ancient China during the Ming Dynasty and then quickly spread to many other Asian countries as a source of protein with many uses.

Tofu can be used for sweet or spicy dishes as it lacks flavor on its own and can take on the tastes of the ingredients added. Tofu has also become a popular replacement for dairy and meat products and can be used in several recipes for a vegetarian diet plan because it is low in fat and high in protein. Some may argue that the weight loss experienced from eating tofu is because the bland taste causes the dieter to eat less than they normally would.

Tofu can be found in the dairy section of most grocery stores in packages of cubes for ease of use in cooking up healthy meals. If you want to add tofu to your diet you can pick up some excellent tofu recipes at Fat Free like this delicious marinated baked tofu mango chutney for a meal that will bring everyone back to the dinner table for seconds.
