American actor, film producer and devout Scientologist, Tom Cruise Mapother IV was born on July 3, 1962 in Syracuse, New York. His impressive filmography includes multi-million dollar box office hits like: Risky Business (1983), Top Gun (1986), Rain Man (1988), A Few Good Men (1992), Interview With The Vampire (1994), Mission Impossible (1996), Jerry McGuire (1996) and Minority Report (2002).


Tom Cruise married fellow actress Mimi Rogers on May 9, 1987; they divorced less than three years later. On December 24, 1990, Cruise tied the knot with Australian beauty Nicole Kidman. The couple separated in February 2001 and have 2 adopted children together. Hoping the third time was a charm, Tom married Dawson's Creek actress Katie Holmes on November 18, 2006. The couple have a baby girl together.

In 2006, Forbes magazine ranked Tom Cruise as the world's most powerful celebrity in the world. He is a 3 time Golden Globe Award winner and has been nominated for 3 Academy Awards.

Controversy struck in 2008 when Tom Cruise announced his love for then girlfriend Katie Holmes on The Oprah Winfrey Show by jumping on her couch live on national television.
