    The Marketing Hypothesis

    http://www.ryananderson.ca/ 2008/ 08/ 18/ the-marketing-hypothesis/

Though it’s often looked down on by consultant types, I’m a big proponent of planning, especially when it comes to web strategy and public relations.  In mathematical terms, execution without a plan results in a vector that’s all magnitude and no direction - in other words, it takes a lot of energy

“Top 50 Have Yous” by Tom Peters

    http://bprao.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 08/ 13/ top-50-have-yous-by-tom-peters/

I dare say Tom Peters needs no introduction. I have been reading his books since that old favorite- ” In Search of Excellence” came out in 1982. More recently, I have been following his blog with interest. What I like best about Tom is his writing style- simple, direct and effective.

Business and Branding #3: Brand You

    http://www.thinkinghomebusiness.com/ 2008/ 08/ 13/ business-and-branding-3-brand…

In the second of this short series on Business and Branding, Finding What Works, I mentioned that my core brand these days is effectively my own name, as in the name of my other main blog, Des Walsh dot Com.   Another way I could put that is to say that I am practicing “personal branding”.

Why Are Republican Incumbents Afraid To Debate In Their Home Districts?

    http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 08/ why-are-republican-incumbents-afr…

After seeing what an incredibly effective speaker Oregon Senate candidate Jeff Merkley is, I was interested in knowing if he would be debating Bush's rubber stamp mouthpiece Gordon Smith. So I asked. His campaign has proposed a series of 8 debates.

What can we learn from The Boss?

    http://www.cpasuccess.com/ 2008/ 08/ what-can-we-lea.html

My colleague and co-blogger, Bill Sheridan, is a big fan of Bruce Springsteen and has managed to get tickets to see an upcoming concert, so this post is for you, Bill. I have to confess that I always been a fan of Tom Peters, and this is from his blog post titled 100 Ways to Succeed: No.

Cause-Related Marketing Lessons Learned from Bad PR Pitches

    http://causerelatedmarketing.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 08/ cause-related-marketing-les…

Lately one of the great things about the Cause-Related Marketing blog for me is that I don’t have to go out and ‘enterprise’ my blog posts the way I did in the early days. People have started to pitch me ideas to post on. We have a name for these people. When they send helpful pitches that are pertinent to this blog I call them PR angels.

    Steve speaks

    http://yastrow.com/ 2008/ steve-speaks.html

Recently, I interviewed with Erik Hansen of the Tom Peters site as a Cool Friend. The interview was really long, and I know you all have lots of things to do, so I broke it up into byte-size pieces. There are two interview clips in this divShare box. In the first piece, Erik and I talk about what makes a We relationship.
