Hidden multi-touch feature on HTC Touch Diamond?

    http://www.crunchgear.com/ 2008/ 08/ 20/ hidden-multi-touch-feature-on-htc-touch…

Cool. Looks like the HTC Touch Diamond (and presumably the HTC Touch Diamond Pro) can actually do multi-touch. Not only multi-touch on the screen itself, but all the way down around the navi-wheel and buttons. The feature is revealed when using HTC’s Nav Debug Tool but so far doesn’t have any practical use beyond simple testing.

    MacBook Touch? Redemption?

    http://www.reallysarahsyndication.com/ 2008/ 07/ 23/ macbook-touch-redemption/

Charlie Kalech just twittered the prayer news that the MacBook Touch — that mythical Apple-branded touchscreen notebook computer — will hit the market by October. He links to Apple Insider (although I don’t see an item there). I hope he’s right. I’m glad I’ve held out on upgrading my PowerBook.

What we have here are the first screenshots of the upcoming S60 Touch platform. From what we can tell, all that additional space beyond QVGA is used in a best way. Going through images or watching a video will be a real pleasure on a device using the S60 Touch.

Care to see how the VGA screens of future touch-based Nokia devices would look like. Here are a few screenshots. While the screenshots don’t really provide more details about the S60 Touch UI, one thing that’s certain is that there will only be minor changes to the existing one.

    Modal overlays

    http://www.smallsurfaces.com/ 2008/ 07/ modal-overlays/

Aza Raskin write about avoiding modalities. “What’s wrong with modal overlays? In a word, they are modal: You are either interacting with the content or the overlay. Modal overlays don’t allow you to refer back and forth between two sources of information, or move fluidly between two actions.
