The tourism trade is popular all over the world and is vital for the stability of many countries. 'Cox & Kings' was the first official travel company, founded in the United Kingdom in 1758. Since then, many people book vacations and travel around the world on a regular basis, most often booking hotels and motels, or resorts.

The definition of the word tourism is travel for recreational, business or leisure purposes. It seems that people all over the world have developed a taste for 'traveling outside their normal living environment for a period of more than 24 hours', which is the World Tourism Organization's definition of tourism, as there were more than 903 million tourist arrivals worldwide in 2007 a growth of 6.6% over that of 2006. Popular locations for travel are Costa Rica, Mexico, Europe and Hawaii, to name a few. Ecotourism has found a market on the African safari, providing visitors with a chance to see protected animals in their natural habitats. Tourists choose from the many flights South Africa has to offer to get themselves closer to the particular sights they wish to see.

The Eco Tourism blog is a robust blog that published stories about creating green travel - environmentally friendly travel with the preservation of the world's ecosystems in mind.
