Trailers, in the sense used most regularly in the blogosphere, are short previews of movies which are shown in theaters and can also increasingly be viewed online. They usually have a running time of less than two or three minutes and serve as a quick representation of what a person will see in the feature length version. Trailers are intended to whet potential viewers' appetites for the film being previewed.

Intrepid movie bloggers often either begin or end a post with the movie trailer for the film in question. It allows their readers to quickly understand the context of the review in light of scenes from the movie.

Many bloggers embed trailers from such video sites as YouTube or link to them on sites like The Internet Movie Database (the unofficial king of all things film); however, now with websites like Hulu, some bloggers are foregoing trailers altogether and are linking to the full-length film itself.
