If you’re thinking that things have gone a bit quiet on the no sleep ’til Brighton Trailwalker preparation front, you’d be both right and wrong. On one hand, we’re having a bit of team walk mini-break, but these will resume with a vengeance in mid-May.

All four members of the team, together with our support team visited the course for a training exercise on Sunday 20th May 2008. We set out from Corringham with Rob leading and Doug following behind. We stopped at a service station on the A3 for breakfast and then set off to our start point. [...]

Look what I found. My Trailwalker finish photo from 2003. The photo shows Dawn, Fi and myself crossing the finish line (and cutting it fine) in about 29 hours and 12 mintues. Unfortunately, we lost a team member (Jean) along the way. Yes - I am using the walking poles as crutches.

It’s been some time since last I posted, three days I think, during which time I’ve attended to the great questions of our time: is the globe really warming, should we boycott the Olympics, why Jessica Alba agreed to be in “Good Luck Chuck” and of course: whether one can grammatically include two colons in the same sentence.

Our appeal to collect a mile of 2 pence pieces has now reached £328.14 . This is the equivalent of 455 yards 2 feet 3 inches.

With Christmas & New Year behind us, I feel it’s time to update you on my training programme which had to be curtailed over the holiday period due to a back problem. Now that is behind me (no pun intended !!) , I have upped the ante and have lengthened my walks from 10 miles [...]

For the next few months (until at least July anyway) I am going to try introducing a few advertising slots (125×125 boxes and/or text links) over on the top right hand side of the site (just under the Search box).
