transportation

Tag details

Transportation is the movement of cargo between two locations. For modes such as trains and cars, their cargo is often human passengers, but transportation devices such as trucks and ships more often focus their interests on the freight shipment of economic goods. They may move raw material to manufacturing districts, or deliver ready-made goods to retain outlets. Modern large scale business enterprises now rely on vehicle tracking to follow their assets as they move between two points, to monitor and reduce the risks.

Tracking allows the fleet manager to forecast problems and provide remote route replanning. While drivers move across the country, their fleet manager is keeping an eye out to make sure their path is clear. In case of relays, vehicle tracking provides a way of recalculating the estimated time of arrival, so that one delay won't lead to hundreds of others by dismantling the coordination with other vehicles.
