In the beginning, there was only one way to travel… on foot. Through the years, people have developed easier and faster ways to get around. From using animals to carry or pull us, to space travel, the innovations have been plenty. There are as many types of travel as there are reasons for traveling. People go to space to discover new life forms, to another country to discover a new way of life, or to work or school as part of their daily life.

The word travel conjures up magical images of far away places. In reality, it can be as simple as getting from one place to another. Some of the more popular types of personal travel include: business travel, adventure travel, humanitarian travel, ecotourism, and family travel, to name a few. In addition, many people journey vicariously through others by reading travel blogs. They say ‘getting there is half the fun”, but sometimes how you get there is the main attraction. This is especially true with cruise and train travel. All different lifestyles and incomes enjoy traveling. It is human nature to get out and explore the world around us.
