triathlon
Were you picked on as a kid? Were you chosen last on the sports team at recess? Were you a sheep in all the Christmas pageants you were in growing up? Then a triathlon may be just the thing for you. Nothing builds confidence, gets you in shape, and allows you to realize your goals quite like a triathlon.
A triathlon is a multi-sport endurance event consisting of running, cycling, and swimming over various distances. However, proficiency in swimming, cycling, and running alone is often not sufficient for success in triathlon. The athlete must be well rounded in all areas of sport in order to do well in the triathlon. It is considered by many to be the premier sporting event.
Triathlon races vary greatly in distance; however, most of them are a 3.8 kilometer swim, 180 kilometer ride, and a marathon 42.2 kilometer run. The most popular triathlon is the Ironman Triathlon.
