One of the biggest questions of Ravens camp has been who is going to finally emerge as the teams starting QB.  The Baltimore Sun shed some light on the battle today, stating that as of right now, Kyle Boller should be the Ravens’ Week 1 starter.

Despite being a jealous douche most of the time, Mike Preston of the Baltimore Sun occasionally makes a good point. And points don’t usually get better than this. On the Ravens’ Insider blog, Preston opined that the defense practicing full force against the offense rarely gives the quarterbacks time to go through their reads and make good throws.

The Ravens’ offense hit rock bottom last year, scoring only 24 touchdowns — just one more than Randy Moss. Baltimore does feature a couple fantasy weapons, but their effectiveness will be limited by the uncertainty at quarterback.

Absolutely nothing. Offense - Kyle Boller didn’t look particularly sharp, Troy Smith, who will get the start next week against the Minnesota Vikings, didn’t look sharp, and Joe Flacco was left looking up at the sky in limited action. Field goals are still the flavor of the month offensively, and the running game never quite hit the ground running.

The Ravens and Patriots met in Foxboro tonight for a preseason matchup, and it was not pretty. The Ravens technically won 16-15. spacerFor the Patriots, Brady and Moss sat, along with other starters. The Ravens sat McGahee and others.

You knew it was going to happen, as it does almost every year. Kyle Boller will be the starting quarterback for the Ravens this Thursday against the New England Patriots. And you know what? That actually might be the best move. Troy Smith’s struggles have been well-documented this season, as have the solid performances of Joe Flacco and Boller.
