Tumblr is a Web 2.0 social networking site with a streamlined and easy-to-use interface that allows for simple blogging and micro-blogging. Tumblr was launched in 2007 from New York City and has since attracted millions of followers and dedicated users.

Like many social networking sites, Tumblr allows for sharing of just about any kind of media. This makes it easy to add pictures, music, videos, or links. The easy-to-use interface and high customization has given Tumblr an extremely high retention rate and higher participation among users than any other social networking site.


Tumblr really shines in the micro-blogging space. Tumblr Microblogging (or Tumblelogging) has converted many bloggers over to this simple and highly streamlined interface. It is so user friendly, that it makes it an appealing platform for anyone that has struggled setting up their own blogs, and even users already experienced with blogging and internet marketing.

Some users of Tumblr even attempt to harness its power and authority for ranking from dofollow backlinks in the search engines or to get free website traffic without actually having to pay for hosting.

Bloggers speaking about Tumblr Microblogging or Tumblelogging can be found at sites like the Traffic Magnet Blog and Search Engine Dominators.
