Tuxedos date back to the 1860’s when the first tuxedo’s made by Henry Poole & Co. came on the scene. The tuxedo is today regarded as one of the highest forms of formal wear that a man can wear. Brought to life on the Hollywood screen by the film stars of the glamorous cinema era, the tuxedo became the iconic symbol of sophistication and in the case of Bond movies occasionally a lethal weapon.

While the original garment was intended for high society, it was to be used as an informal evening suit creating a relaxed ‘out of town’ atmosphere. Comprised of a dinner jacket (British) or tuxedo (Canada & the US), and more commonly known as ‘Black Tie’ wear, the tuxedos of today will be worn at state dinners and other social events. The tuxedo is usually the choice for many men getting married.
