A vacuum cleaner is an electrical device usually used to clean up dust and dirt from floors, carpets and upholstery.

Often, the debris collected is brought into a bag or other container for later disposal.

Other vacuum systems might connect to a central location in a home or building to prevent the need for emptying the vacuum cleaner often.

Different configurations for vacuum cleaners exist. They include: upright, canister (also called cylinder and tank), wet vacs, wet/dry vacs, pneumatic vacs, back-pack vacs, central vacs, robotic, handhelds and drums.
