After making a variety of flavored yogurts and ice cream, I just made some vanilla ice cream. 1 cup half and half 1/2 cup whipping cream 2 tsp vanilla extract 2 TBSP of sugar (I don’t like super sweet, but you can always add more) Throw these into your ice cream maker for about 20 minutes.  You’ll see it thickens, transfer into a freezable container, and leave in your freezer.

I know. You’re reading that headline and wondering what the HECK is wrong with me, since you have never had any trouble putting away a delicious cone of ice cream, and why mess with a good thing? Here’s why. Ice cream in a bowl (or from the pint, if we’re being honest) can be so its-9:30 p.m.-and-I-can-eat-this-or-just-go-to-bed.

So, just like I did earlier this year with Girl Scout Cookies, I set about making my own homemade ice cream Drumsticks! I picked up a package of sugar cones at the grocery store and searched through the ice cream to find a flavor that appealed to me. Homemade ice cream or gelato would be great, too, but I didnt have any ready in my freezer.

Homemade ice cream is creamier, more luscious, and smoother; you really can tell a difference! And don’t worry if you don’t have an ice cream maker, we have recipes requiring only a mixer and your freezer , no machine necessary! Homemade ice cream is prepared from a base or mix.
