video card

A Video Card, also called a graphic card or video adapter, is a small computer part that is generally added to the motherboard of a computer for the purpose of displaying and processing images on the monitor screen. Some video cards even come with their own processors.

While most video cards simply show the pictures, some of the more advanced cards will also display images in higher resolutions and even formats like 3D and high definition (HD).

Many of today's more high-end video cards also have added functions like video capture, advanced 3D rendering and multi-screen capability (the ability to display images on more than one monitor). All of these factors are important when shopping for video cards or when looking to upgrade your system and buy computer components.
