A video blog is a specialized type of blog that uses video as the medium. Video blogs often combine the videos with textual and visual contents that briefly summarize the contents of the video.

Video blogging, sometimes referred to as vlogging, has different requirements than standard blogging. The videos that are embedded on the video blogs need to be created and often edited before they can be published.

This process is usually time consuming and explains why many video bloggers post their videos in parts and less frequently than standard blogs.

Video bloggers usually host their videos at video hosting sites such as YouTube or Dailymotion. These externally hosted videos save bandwidth and are often used as an additional promotional method of reaching the audience. It is often the case that YouTube videos or videos on other platforms reach a larger audience than the videos on the video blogs themselves.

You'll find bloggers talking about video blogging at sites like Negative Gamer and Nanoramas.
