Microsoft's Virtual Earth is an integral part of the company's offerings of mapping software to the Internet public, including the basic building block powering Live Search Maps.
According to Virtual Earth's official site, their platform offers a variety of features. These features include "customizable imagery available on mobile devices and on the desktop, "broader international mapping capabilities, including localized maps in several of the most used languages domestically and in Western Europe, "richer data, including more than 70% of all U.S. rooftops included," and "enhanced functionality, including the new Virtual Earth Web Services API" helping round out the comprehensive product for members of the general and scientific communities.
