Kicking things off with the LG Voyager, Verizon Wireless has just gone live with its visual voicemail service. No doubt inspired by the iPhone though Apple was hardly the first to introduce such a service (just ask its legal team), Verizon’s new service allows users to listen to voicemail messages by navigating through a visual representation of their voicemail inbox.

As the old saying goes, it’s better late than never, and Verizon Wireless takes that to heart by launching its very own Visual Voicemail service for only an additional $2.99 per month to subscribers. This service lets users access and listen (or not) to voice mails that have been waiting on them on Verizon’s network.

Free Conferencing Corporation, best known as freeconferencecall.com, has added private dial-in numbers to its SimpleVoiceBox and SimpleVoiceCenter services. Private number provides a direct route into the service without access codes or extra digits.

SvxLink is a flexible general purpose voice services system for ham radio use. It can act as a repeater controller or operate on a simplex channel. The server consists of a core that handles the connection to the transceiver. The transceiver audio is connected to the PC through the sound card, and the PTT is controlled by a pin in the serial port.

Verizon Visual Voicemail Service. As a follow-up to the previous report about Verizon to offer Visual Voicemail, the carrier finally launches its visual voicemail service. At this time, Visual Voice Mail application will only be distributed on a revamped version of the popular Verizon LG Voyager Refresh.

We’ve talked about this back in June. Following the iPhone release, many people realised they could benefit from the visual voicemail. Verizon and Sprint saw its chance and started working on it. Sprint users can already use the service through such handsets as Samsung Instinct.
