waders
Waders are the rubber prophylactics used by fishermen to walk in water without getting damp. Made from ballistic nylon, neoprene, or rubber, they can have a boot attached or merely a stocking foot that is worn with wading shoes.
A variety of lengths are commonly used: chest high, waist high, and merely covering the legs, and they can be insulated. Anglers employ waders to walk the streambed in search of fish, or use them to reduce the distance they cast to present flies, bait, or lures to the fish.
Waders must be cleaned to reduce the spread of invasive species, like Quagga and Zebra mussels, which can hitch a ride on the wader or wading shoe and be transported by anglers to other streams and lakes.
