Hippocrates once said that "walking is man's best medicine," and he was right. Just by incorporating walking into an exercise routine, the results can be astounding: bone density increases, the potential for diabetes and disease is reduced, as well as high blood pressure.

The benefits of walking are numerous. It can decrease the risk of breast and colon cancer. Women can also benefit from the fact that bone density is increased and the rate of bone loss in the legs is slowed by walking. Walking also strengthens the heart and reduces risk of heart attack., can help maintain cognitive function, and can alleviate symptoms of depression

Walking blogs are very popular on the internet today. From "Walktopia" which promotes "walk culture" to "Discover Walking," which offers tips on everything from best walking shoes, trails and beaches to walk on, and walking for weight loss, there is plenty information out there.

So whether you get your exercise by meeting up with friends and going for a brisk stroll, or walking the dog for an hour, walking is a great way to get some exercise and make an improvement in your health.
