In the second part of my series on energy issues - today I want to talk about oil, Texas tea, black gold. For most of us, we see “oil” when we gas our cars - cursing I’m sure at the high price of gasoline. However, oil is must more ubiquitous than just gasoline.

So in response to the New Yorker piece - and the inevitable denials, outrage, and indignation - I would just sum it up and say - I’m shocked! Shocked I say - to find gambling going on in the CASINO! Sen. Obama’s outrage over the current New Yorker magazine cover is amusing to me.  The New Yorker is not a paragon of conservatism.

So the rumor mills in Washington are grinding again at the thought that former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, met with both Senators Obama and McCain. Moreover, there is considerable speculation at the thought of having Powell as a Vice President pick for either candidate.

One of the things I was thinking tonight… with my cigar between my fingers contributing to the carbon footprint of global warming… was have blogs eliminated the “Great American Novel” as the aspiration for America’s writers. For those that blog, I suspect there is a burning desire to put pen to paper.

It’s hard to take Sen. Obama seriously when his voting record makes it clear - he hardly seems to show up for work on the difficult days. Sen. The process of making handmade washi is long and intensive. Today there are only a few remaining places that make handmade washi. Modern washi is made with the use of machines. After the fiber has been harvested it must been cleaned. Picking out small particles from the fiber must be done by hand.
